Meet the Program Director

Andrea D. Haugen ('10) is an assistant professor and the program director for the online B.S. in Psychology. Andrea received her bachelor's and master's degrees in psychology from ACU's residential campus with a focus on clinical work. She returned to Abilene Christian University as a faculty member after completing her PhD at Texas A&M University in Social Psychology with certificates in Africana Studies and Women's and Gender Studies. In the Culture in Mind Collaboratory at TAMU, she researched stereotyping and prejudice at the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality. She also explored various influences on social perceptions of sexual assault. In 2017, she was awarded a graduate assistantship with the Center for Teaching Excellence to facilitate the research and development of a new psychology curriculum at TAMU.

Andrea is thrilled to be back with ACU in this new capacity, and she brings with her a passion for high-quality, Christian liberal arts education and a vision for radical inclusion of all by all who follow Christ. Her previous work with TAMU's Center for Teaching Excellence has also inspired her ends-focused, learner-centered approach to higher education. As the online Psychology program director, she is dedicated to building and delivering an excellent degree that fully  prepares students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world, no matter their vocation.
