What is the Difference in the Biology Degrees?

Bachelor of Science

The B.S. in biology program is a rigorous path that prepares you for a variety of careers through six tracks – Cellular/Molecular Biology, General Biology, Health Professions, Organismal Biology, Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Wildlife Biology. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in research projects and meet specialized requirements to prepare you for graduate or professional school or an immediate career in the field.

Bachelor of Arts

The B.A. in biology program is a program that allows for more flexibility and greater exposure to fields of study outside of the sciences, while still allowing a focus in biology and providing a path for a biology-related career.

High School Teacher Certification – Biology

  • Composite Sciences
  • Life Sciences

The Biology-Teaching Bachelor of Science program offers two tracks for teaching at the K-12 level. You’ll receive solid backgrounds in pedagogy through the Teacher Education Program and science through the biology department. By serving as a biology lab teaching assistant the semester before you begin your student teaching, you’ll have an opportunity to pair your skills as a teacher with your knowledge in biology in a real-world setting.
