Transfer Process for Online Bachelor’s Students

The transfer process is streamlined through our Transfer Portal, a one-stop location for navigating the steps toward completing your transfer and becoming a Wildcat. There you can easily see how your credits will transfer, track your deadlines and progress, and find resources to ease your transition to ACU.

To secure your place at ACU Online, complete an application for your desired program. Submit your $50 application fee and official transcripts from each college you’ve attended. If you have completed fewer than 24 transferable credit hours at your previous institution(s), you should also include your official high school transcript or GED diploma.

You may provisionally submit unofficial transcripts through the application portal for pre-evaluation, but you should request that all official transcripts be sent to onlineadmissions@acu.edu or by mail to:

Abilene Christian University ATTN: Records
16633 Dallas Parkway, Ste. 800
Addison, TX 75001

If you have questions during the application process, contact an Admissions Advisor by phone at (855) 219-7300 or by email at onlineadmissions@acu.edu.

Transferring Credits

To be eligible for an undergraduate degree from ACU, you must complete at least 40 credit hours of coursework through ACU Online. You can transfer up to 80 credits in most programs, of which no more than 66 may be credits from a community, junior or other two-year college. At ACU, we deeply value your hard work and accomplishments at previous institutions—and we look forward to the new aspects of learning you will uncover as an ACU student.

Course Transfers

When evaluating your completed courses and other academic achievements for transfer, ACU will consider various criteria, including institutional accreditation, comparable ACU courses and grade letter received. Grades from transferred courses are not counted toward your GPA at ACU. Learn more about transferring courses and our credit evaluation process.

Course Examinations

You may also exemplify your expertise by obtaining CLEP credits. ACU will evaluate your previous CLEP examinations in a variety of subjects for up to 30 hours of credit toward your online degree.

Course Exemptions

In recognition of your commitment to learning and growth, you may be eligible for course exemptions upon transfer to ACU. If you transfer with 24–59 credit hours, the regularly required BIBL 101 and 102 courses will be combined into one course, BIBL 103. Additionally, if you transfer 60 or more credit hours, you will be exempt from taking an advanced BIBL course.

Military Transcripts/Training

Because ACU is a member of the Service Members Opportunity College Organization, you can request to have your military training evaluated by the American Council on Education. We will then follow their recommendations for credit equivalencies in accordance with our degree and transfer policies. Contact your advisor for an unofficial evaluation today at 855-219-7300.
