Animal Research Ethics Training

All animal research at ACU must be compliant with the USDA Regulations published in the Animal Welfare Act/Animal Welfare Regulations. ACU’s ORSP and IACUC policies and procedures are written to ensure compliance.Prior to designing or conducting research or teaching activities in which there are animal subjects, it is important that all investigators and faculty advisors (when applicable) have sufficient training and knowledge with regard to pertinent federal regulations and ethical guidelines. The AALAS Learning Library provides an online course, Working with the IACUC, which must be used to obtain and document basic training. In addition, depending on the study, you may be required to take additional courses related to reducing pain and distress during and after procedures or species-specific modules. Please consult with the IACUC office regarding any additional courses you may be required to take.

In addition, all research team members must complete EthicsCORE Responsible Conduct of Research Training. Be sure to register under the ACU group when creating an account.

Upon completion of the training, please save your Certificate of Completion and/or print your completion screen to provide the IACUC documentation of your training.
These training requirements must be completed by all research team members once every 4 years.

All training modules are accessible via a Canvas Research Training Course. You may enroll in the classroom by clicking here.
