Connecting Culture and Faith

ACU Summit is happy to host the first Summit Film Festival in 2017! The festival will consist of screenings of motion pictures, documentaries, and video series designed for church small groups. There will be something for everyone! Each screening will be followed by a talkback with one of ACU's film scholars. Bring your own popcorn! 

Motion Picture

Silence (2016)

Two Jesuit missionaries travel from Portugal to Japan in search of their missing mentor. Their faith is tested by a climate hostile to Christianity as they learn what persecution truly means. (2h 40m)

Facing Darkness (2017)

A Christian relief organization meets the challenge of fighting the Ebola epidemic in west Africa. The story and ministry of ACU alumnus, Dr. Kent Brantly, is highlighted in the film. (1h 33m)

This documentary presents the dramatic stories of refugees building new lives in America, forcing viewers to consider their willingness to welcome foreigners in crisis from a distant land. (31m)

The film War Room provides the basis for this five part study with scriptural lessons from the film about prayer.

This series, based off of the movie and book The Shack, is a study offering hope for those dealing with tragedies, who are questioning God’s love and goodness, and for those wanting to strengthen their faith.

Jack and Me: Why I Like C.S. Lewis

This resource for small groups features Tony Ash and his experiences in the study of C.S. Lewis and his writings. This video series is a useful addition to any small group interested in apologetics or C.S. Lewis’ writings.
