2018 New Student Orientation Sessions New Student Orientation is a summer orientation program for first-year ACU students and their parents. All entering students, freshmen, and transfers are required to attend one of the summer orientation sessions.

Why must students attend?
During Orientation, you will: Meet fellow students. Take assessments that help you discover or affirm your academic major. Meet faculty and staff from your area of academic interest. Reserve your books for the fall semester. Meet residence life staff. Complete important academic and student life business (ID card, and more). Attend information sessions about financial aid, academic and student life programs, and student services. Have your questions answered about courses, spiritual life, billing or anything else that comes to mind!
Should parents attend?
We have special sessions designed to introduce parents and family members to ACU, as well as to assist them in preparing for the challenges and changes that arise when a student goes to college. Parents often have many questions regarding their student's new experiences, and these sessions offer answers in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. While some sessions will be student and parent sessions, others will run concurrent to the student sessions. It is important parents plan to attend these parent-only sessions.
What about major selection and class schedule changes?
Advising is a central component of your ACU experience because it promotes the achievement of your educational and personal goals. At Orientation, you'll learn about the Core Curriculum and specific majors.
During NSO, all students and parents will attend a unique session explaining the role of advisors and how advising works at ACU. Optional department and individual advising sessions will be available during Orientation for any interested students, but you can begin interacting (via phone or email) with your academic advisor and making class changes as soon as you receive your tentative fall schedule*. Transfer students: you must submit all of your transcripts and contact your advisor to have your schedule built.
Is a health record required?
A completed Student Immunization Form and TB screening questionnaire should be submitted to the Office of Admissions. Required immunizations include meningococcal, MMR and tetanus. Failure to submit a completed health record will result in the student being dropped from all registered classes and will prevent registration for classes until the form is received.
What about students with disabilities?

What is the cost?
Your $215 orientation fee, which will be applied to your ACU student account, covers the cost and materials for programming during New Student Orientation and the Wildcat Week programs, including your strengths assessment, multiple meals and refreshment breaks for the student and two guests. Additional guests are $8 each.
When is move-in day?
Move-in day is Friday, January 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
