How do I apply to the ACU MA in Communication?

When is the application deadline?
We make rolling admission decisions year round, so there is no specific deadline. However, the earlier an application is submitted, the better -- particularly for students wanting to apply for a Graduate Assistantship.
Is there an application fee?
Yes, the $50 application fee can be paid within your application portal.
Is the GRE required for admission?
The GRE is waived for students who graduated from ACU with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Otherwise, it is required.
What is an appropriate length for the purpose statement?
An appropriate purpose statement is 2-3 pages.
Are specific prerequisite courses required to apply?
No prerequisites are required.
Can my writing sample be an undergraduate paper?
Yes, undergraduate papers that include academic sources are welcome.
How many entry terms are offered each year?
Students can apply for a fall (August) or spring (January) entry term.
What is the length of the program?
The program is typically 2 years (with summer breaks), but students have completed the program in 1.5 years by taking summer courses.
Is there a part time option?
Yes, students can enroll part time.
Can students choose electives within the degree plan?

What is the cost of the program?
The cost of the program is $42,984 or $1,194 per credit hour. (18/19 rates)
Are scholarships offered?
Yes. Admitted students can apply for a departmental scholarship.
Are Graduate Assistant positions available?

Is there a thesis option?
Yes. Students have a thesis option as well as opportunities to participate in regional and national conferences.
Can I study abroad with ACU?
Yes. Our department offers a 5-week study abroad trip to Oxford, England every other year. The next program is tentatively scheduled for July 2020. Learn more here!
