What is the move-out process for this spring?

We have created a move-out process allowing you to return briefly to campus to remove your belongings from your residence hall. Your safety and convenience have been our primary concerns as we developed this process. As we seek to follow recommendations and guidelines from the CDC and public health department, we will conduct an organized move-out process, offering 20 dates in April and May for students to return. You will be able to sign up for one of the following dates: 

  • April 6-12
  • May 1-3, 22-31

We have a limit of 25 time slots per day, per building. You will have ID card access to your residence hall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on your move-out day. You are welcome to bring one guest with you to help. Please respect the limitation of only bringing one additional person into the hall with you for this process. 

How is this move-out affected by shelter-in-place advisories?

We realize that some counties have issued various levels of shelter-in-place advisories and that some of you may have concerns about travel. After consulting with the ACU Police chief, we feel that in most cases, those travel-related advisories allow enough flexibility for families to come to Abilene and return directly home for the duration of the shelter-in-place period. Our goal is to facilitate a move-out process allowing for social distancing while maintaining a clean and safe environment for all. The safety and health of our students and community continue to be of utmost importance to us. 

How do I choose a move-out day and time?

You should have received an email from your resident director (RD) with information about the process and a link to sign up for a date and time. If not, or if you have questions, don’t hesitate to email reslife@acu.edu or your RD.
