Spiritual Formation

College years are some of the most formative years in the life of an individual, and we believe they provide one of the best opportunities to grow as followers of Jesus. Christian spiritual formation takes many forms and is expressed in a variety of ways. That is why it is our commitment that students at ACU have access to opportunities to participate in Christian spiritual growth through a variety of expressions while at the same time holding onto a shared vision and purpose. Our hope is that within each of these expressions, students can find a commitment to proximity, participation, and purpose. These three values, which are explained below, help us focus on our vision of spiritual formation for ACU’s campus.

Proximity:
We believe that our physical nearness to one another fosters our spiritual nearness as well. It is important that we gather as a community so that joys and trials may be shared, needs can be heard, and God may be glorified by the unity of His people who gather to glorify Him.

Participation:
It is not only proximity that fosters spiritual formation but also participation when we are gathered. The necessary hard work of committing ourselves to the disciplines of faith produces good spiritual fruit in time. As a community, we gather and grow best when we are all committed to participating together as a body.

Purpose:
Our hope is that every expression of spiritual formation on ACU’s campus comes from a place of purpose. This means that we are in prayer and discernment about where God is leading us as a people. We pray that our eyes and hearts are set on Him so that our gatherings are both glorifying to Him and uplifting to our community.
