Foundation for Success

Foundation for Success (UNIV 111) is a comprehensive academic course designed to enhance academic proficiency, career planning skills, financial literacy and life management skills useful for helping students experience academic and personal success. This course is available to both incoming students and current students who want to be better prepared for the academic rigor of their college-level courses and offers 3 elective credit hours toward a degree.

This course tackles a range of topics to help students build a foundation for success in all of their college courses. Some of the key topics include the strengthening of academic skills such as test taking and time management; enhancement of soft skills such as personal responsibility and emotional intelligence; career planning skills such as building resumes and cover letters; and an introduction to financial literacy covering Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance, College Edition. In addition, students will learn more about goal setting, individual learning styles, memory, concentration, information organization, exam preparation and exam success.
