ACU loves being a part of the Abilene and Big Country community! We know our high schools have intellectually gifted, engaged students who are academically prepared for success in higher education. To honor and support our local students, we are excited to offer the Abilene and Big Country Distinguished Student Award, beginning with the entering class of Fall 2020. 

$80,000

Students in the top 25 percent of their high school class – and/or who have a 3.5 core GPA* or higher at the end of their junior year – will be guaranteed a minimum of $20,000 per year ($80,000 for four years) in scholarships and grants.

$68,000

High school students with a 3.0-3.49 core GPA* at the end of their junior year will be guaranteed a minimum of $17,000 per year ($68,000 for four years) in scholarships and grants.
 

Requirements and eligibility:

  • Incoming freshman beginning in Fall 2020
  • Submit an ACU Application for Admission including a transcript completed through junior year and ACT or SAT scores

  • File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) each year
  • Award may be applied to tuition expenses only. Cannot be applied towards room and board.
  • Graduate from high school in one of the following counties: Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Erath, Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jones, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, Throckmorton, Tom Green, and Young

*ACU calculates a student's core GPA based on grades received in traditional academic courses including math, English, science, social studies and foreign language. Grades received in elective courses do not count towards a student's core GPA.
