| The radio series "This I Believe" began in 1951 when journalist Edward R. Murrow asked everyday citizens, statesmen and celebrities to share "the core beliefs that guide their daily lives." It continues now as a project of National Public Radio, Atlantic Public Media and This I Believe, Inc. In 2006, students from our freshman composition courses began producing their own personal creeds on subjects as varied as cultural diversity, the nature of doubt, and surfing. Select essays have been broadcast locally on KACU-FM, the Abilene-area NPR station, via the web and iTunes U. We hope you enjoy this collection of student writing and feel encouraged to submit your own essay to NPR's site. |
