Abilene Christian University was the third stop on the Google "App to School" bus tour, during which the Google Apps team visited 10 campuses that have already implemented Google Apps for Education. The bus was on campus Sept. 15, 2008 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
For the entire month of September, the Google team will be on the road, visiting campuses to show university students and faculty how to better use their technology, as well as to hear how each campus is using Google Apps already.
"We are excited that Google chose ACU as one of their stops on the bus tour," said Kevin Roberts, ACU's chief information officer. "The fact that we are one of only 10 schools in the nation included on the tour says something about the innovative leadership position ACU has in our use of technology."
During the stop at Abilene Christian, students, faculty and staff will have the chance to play with the latest technology and see demonstrations of the Google Apps team's favorite tips and tricks.
I have grown more as a person, spiritually and relationally, in the past three years than I did the first 20 years of my life.
"It's important for us to meet with Google Apps users, so that's why the Google Apps for Education Team is going 'App To School' on a road trip to meet with students at universities across the country," said Jeff Keltner, business development manager for Google Apps. "We're really excited to meet Abilene Christian University students and faculty to hear how they're using Google Apps on campus and find out what we can do to make Google Apps better."

ACU first made the switch to Google Apps Education Edition in April 2007, giving students, faculty and staff access to Gmail, Google Calendar, Documents, Spreadsheets and Google Talk. The university was named to the first Customer Advisory Board for Google Apps in November of that year, a group that consisted of representatives from only six universities across the nation.
