iPhone and iPod Touch Apps
One of the most versatile and groundbreaking features of the iPhone and iPod Touch is the ability to download and install apps. These apps add a new level of functionality to your device. Keep in touch with friends, get digital flash cards for your biology class, play all kinds of games, look up what is good to eat or what movies are playing. The possibilities are endless; all you have to do is download and sync.
Note: In order to download Apps, you will have to have a valid iTunes Store account. This is not the same as your ACU ID and ACU cannot help you with problems associated with it. You can manage your account by going to Settings and the click on Store.
There are two ways of downloading an app to your iPhone or iPod touch:
- On the device itself, open the "App Store." From here you can search and browse from the hundreds of available apps. Find one you like and your device will download it directly to your Home Screen. Some apps are free, some are not; if you choose to download an app that is not free, you are responsible for any costs incurred.
- In iTunes, open the iTunes Store (located on the left panel). Next, select "App Store." In here you will be able to browse and download Apps to your computer. You can then choose to install those apps when you sync your phone via the Applications tab of your device.
Once the app is installed on your home screen you can open it by tapping on it. You can move it around by tapping and holding until the icons start to wiggle. You’ll then be able to move or delete the app from your device. Keep in mind that doing so will delete any data (high scores, stored login info, etc.) related to that app.
Downloading and installing apps is easy and is a great way to stay connected!
If the "App store" icon on your device has a red number attached to it. That means there are updates for one of your installed apps. Simply tap "App Store" and tap "Updates" at the bottom. From here you can choose to download updates over the air.2.
