Policy
Unsanctioned Wireless Access Points and routers are not allowed to connect to the ACU data network. Discovery of unapproved installations of equipment that extend ACU network services will result in termination of the connection. In cases of residence hall/students, the offending equipment must be immediately removed from connection to the ACU network.
Overview of Issue
Laptops and desk computers are being shipped with Ethernet/wireless network interface cards (NICs) installed as standard features. The possibility of unmanaged employee/student installed wireless access points and routers will increase and the impact of these unmanaged wireless APs and routers in the enterprise or student residence halls will expose the University to considerable security risk and network service disruptions.
