Jim Trietsch: Chief Operations Planning Officer

Current Position:
Chief Operations Planning Officer, Abilene Christian University, since 2008, reporting to Associate VP for Operations with the following responsibilities:

  • Oversee the budgeting process for all operations organizations
  • Develop financial models to enable project exploration and implementation of initiatives
  • Manage operations contracts
  • Manage operations vendor relationships 
  • Explore new operations initiatives

Major projects have included:

  • Member of team to roll out of iPhones and iPod Touches to all incoming freshmen at ACU
  • Member of campus-wide technology strategy team which led ACU to its heavy technology implementation
  • Campus-wide cable TV system and voicemail system
  • Campus-wide telephone switch replacement migrating from Nortel to Alcatel
  • Campus-wide ATM-backbone, Ethernet connections in every office, classroom, residence hall room
  • Complete replacement of ERP software migrating from SCT's IA+ to Sungard Banner
  • Disaster Recovery Planning for ACU technology
  • Technology Support/HelpDesk operations at ACU

  • ACU, Abilene, TX, 2003-2008, Associate CIO for administration and finance - Oversee the budgeting process, contracts, vendor relationships, technology initiatives
  • ACU, Abilene, TX, 2001-2003, Executive Director, Information Technology - all technology operations including programming, system administration, networks, support, long distance resale and billing.
  • ACU, Abilene, TX, 1992-2001, Director of Information Technology - all administrative technology including campus-wide infrastruture.
  • ACU, Abilene, TX, 1986-1992, Director of Computer Services - administrative programming and operations.
  • Bureau of Reclamation, Denver, CO, 1984-1986, Head of the User Liaison Section - serving the Bureau of Reclamation's technical needs nationwide providing help desk support and technical training. Also served as Head of the System Software Section for a short period.
  • Bureau of Reclamation, Amarillo, TX, 1974-1984, programmer/analyst working on various hardware, software, and networking platforms.

While serving the Bureau of Reclamation, he received several performance and achievement awards as well as several suggestion awards.
