ACU Gmail and Google Calendar

ACU is partnering with Google to allow the university’s students, faculty, and staff to use Google Apps for Education, which includes Gmail to manage email accounts, as well as Google Calendar, Documents and Spreadsheets, and Google Talk.

The complete transition to Gmail/Gcal and decommissioning of the old email/calendar system will occur in September 2007, but faculty, staff, and students won’t have to wait that long to enjoy the benefits. Beginning April 11, 2007 on G-Day, everyone will be presented with the option to begin using the new services from Google immediately.

What Should I Expect?

The new system boasts a number of new features including indexed email search, enhanced spam filtering, calendaring, tagging capabilities for tracking emails, chatting options, and an extraordinary two-gigabyte quota per user for storage.

We are excited about the new features that this product will provide especially since users will still have the same username and email address.  Please take the time to review the steps below to help prepare you for this new generation of email.

Begin the Conversion Process

We have technical videos prepared to help you in the conversion process. The opt in process starts with email, but if you have already converted over Gmail, it is time to start converting your calendar. There are classes and open labs available to help you during this transition. Click one of the following links to get started!
