Grub
Each fall the pledge class is in charge of GATA’s first social of the year. This first social is known as Grub and it gives the pledges an opportunity to impress the members with their talents. The pledges must choose a theme, provide entertainment, and decorate for the event. Pledges and members both bring dates and dress in costumes according to the Grub theme. The costumes make for a night of creativity and allow for a less formal atmosphere.
Grub 2006 was on September 30th, which was only two weeks into the pledging period. Under the coordination of our social director, Katherine Strong, and the Flame social director, Stephanie Peurifoy, the 2006 pledge class chose the Grub theme of “Superheroes and Villians,” decorated the Abilene Community Center in downtown Abilene, and performed skits for entertainment. Some of the costumes at this year’s Grub were: batman, superman, mario and luigi, the crocodile hunter, and many others!
