Homecoming
Homecoming is a busy, yet fun time for the GATA alumni, members, and pledges. This is a time when the alumni can come back to visit the campus and see how things have changed, but still get to take part in the many ACU traditions of homecoming. For the pledges, this is the most anticipated time of the whole pledging period because all the hard work they have put forth on the homecoming float and learning their cheers and marches for the parade are about to be seen by thousands.
The main events begin before the sun is even up on Saturday morning. This is when the GATA Homecoming Breakfast for the alumni takes place. This year’s breakfast was held in the Teague Special Events Center on campus. The breakfast was coordinated by the GATA Vice President, Whitney Loveland, and the pledges provided the entertainment. This was a great time for the GATA alumni to all get back together and share memories while also having the chance to see the younger generations of GATA in the current members and pledges.
Following breakfast was the traditional ACU Homecoming
Parade. With this year’s homecoming theme of “The Greatest
Homecoming on Earth” and under the direction of GATA float directors
Kayla Sanderson and Emily Ardoyno, the pledges constructed a huge
circus tent for the GATA
float. Right behind the tent in the parade were this year’s
GATA pledges marching and dressed as circus snacks.
Following homecoming chapel, current GATAs, pledges, and alumni gather at the fountain to sing their songs in a huge group.
The final event of the Homecoming weekend for GATA’s members and
pledges was the Homecoming football game.
