Missions at ACU

Our mission is to infuse missional and intercultural competence into the entire ACU campus, inspiring and equipping all students, faculty and staff to join in God’s mission as we become exceptional, innovative and real disciples for Christ in the world.

The Halbert Center offers students, faculty and staff the opportunity to be involved in various missions and global service opportunities around the world. Our programs complement ACU’s undergraduate and graduate degrees by providing missions opportunities outside the classroom to all ACU students, regardless of major.

Vision -- The entire ACU family, fully on mission with God.

Global Service Trips

Global Service Trips are brief and take place during winter break, spring break, and summer. Typically, these are the short distances from or in the United States.
Many of these experiences take place in partnership with academic departments and other campus groups such as:

  • Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
  • Athletics
  • College of Business Administration
  • Department of Engineering and Physics
  • Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition
  • Department of Teacher Education
  • Pre-health program
  • School of Nursing
  • Social clubs

World Wide Witness (WWW)

WWW offers summer missions internships for students of all majors. Whichever location you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to work with ministers and members of the local community, using your unique gifts and passions.
Interns typically work in groups of two to four in countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and across the U.S.
Service options include:

  • Medical missions
  • Serving at children’s homes
  • Building homes
  • Business as mission
  • Technology projects
  • Teaching English in local schools
  • Evangelism
  • Agricultural projects
  • Many other opportunities

GAP Year

Several ACU students are opting for a “GAP” year. “GAP” has a double meaning: it is our Global Apprenticeship Program and also typically takes place in the “gap” between graduation and whatever comes next for a student. The students partner with missionaries and ministries around the world for six-month to two-year service terms. GAP experiences can be catered to a student’s individual areas of interest.

Other missions activity at ACU

Through the ACU Halbert Center for Missions and Global Service, students can also participate in missions activities like:

  • Conferences
  • Discernment groups / mentoring
  • Local missional opportunities
