Naimadu makes NCAA history, ACU wins second title

Nicodemus Naimadu, ACU's distance-running star, easily won his record fourth collegiate individual title in men's cross country, propelling the Wildcats to a second consecutive NCAA Division II team championship.

 
Scott

Scott named in final three for NCAA Division II Harlon Hill Award

Bernard Scott was one of three finalists for the NCAA Division II player of the year award. Scott, a junior from Vernon, set NCAA Division II single-season records for touchdowns scored (39), rushing touchdowns (35) and points scored (234). He rushed for 2,165 yards in 2007 and went over 100 yards in a game 11 times. He set the school's single-game rushing record with 303 yards against Chadron State and he scored three or more touchdowns in a game nine times and had six TDs in two games. 

 
Playoff Win

Wildcats shred Mesa State in playoffs

 

The 15th-ranked Wildcats shredded Mesa State's defense in a 56-12 win over the Mavericks in ACU's first round game in the NCAA Division II playoffs.

 
Cross Country Team

Cross Country Team Wins National Championship

 

Abilene Christian University won a second consecutive NCAA Division II team championship. Naimadu ran 29:39.7 to pace a Wildcat team that scored 59 points and included junior Serge Gasore (30:19.5 for sixth), junior Julius Nyango (30:06.2 for 3rd), junior Philip Birgen (31:18.4 for 29th) and Amos Sang (31:18.8 for 30th).

ACU Sweeps Multi-events

 

Nicodemus Naimadu erased a 24-year-old meet record while winning his 10th straight steeplechase race, helping ACU to its sixth consecutive team title in the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field championships in Charlotte, N.C.  The Wildcats scored 105.5 points, and St. Augustine's (N.C.) was a distant second at 73.  The ACU women's team (69 points) set two school records and finished runner-up to Lincoln (Mo.) University.
