ACU physics research team receives DOE grant
Abilene Christian University's Particle Physics Research Team, composed of ACU faculty and students, has recently received a research grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). As one of 11 U.S. university-led grant recipient teams, ACU will work cooperatively with teams from other universities as part of DOE's Nuclear Energy Research Initiative (NERI). | ||

ACU student recognized nationally for physics research
Abilene Christian University physics major Austin Basye, received the Outstanding Student Award for Undergraduate Research from the Society of Physics Students (SPS). Basye, a senior from Canyon and president of the ACU chapter of SPS, was recognized as one of the top three undergraduate physics researchers in the nation in 2007. In August, Basye represented the United States at the 2007-08 International Conference of Physics Students (ICPS) in London. | ||

Psychology students research Facebook, MySpace
Led by Department of Psychology chair Dr. Richard Beck ('89), a team of undergraduate psychology majors conducted a study of what they called e-personality, e-hypocrisy, e-flirtation, e-connection and e-spirituality, based on the use of MySpace and Facebook. The study was mentioned in the May 29 online edition of The Wall Street Journal. | ||

Social Work students, faculty research psychosocial aspects of juvenile diabetes.
ACU graduate students and faculty are working to help children diagnosed with juvenile diabetes cope with the social and psychological impact of the disease. ACU's School of Social Work is the first in the nation with an emphasis on evidence-based practice (EBP), and this project gave students the chance to apply their research skills to a specific need in the community. | ||
