We are always updating our campus to give our students the best possible environment for learning and living. In the past year we've made quite a few changes to make make our students feel right at home.

And what's on the horizon? The Hunter Welome Center is scheduled to be completed in spring 2009.

Hilton Food Court  

Hilton Food Court opens

 

The first phase of renovations to the McGlothlin Campus Center was near completion when classes began in August. In addition to Pizza Hut and Chick-Fil-A, dining options now include Quiznos and Freshens Energy Zone. Those vendors constitute the new L.D. and Alvah Jean Hilton Food Court in a space previously occupied by the Hilton Room, ticket window, information desk and administrative office.

 
Duncum Center for Conflict Resolution

Conflict Resolution Center groundbreaking honors Diane and John Duncum

 

Construction of the two-story, 6,000-square-foot Diane and John Duncum Center for Conflict Resolution was completed in December. The new facility was made possible by the generosity and support of John ('59) and Diane (Vannoy '62) Duncum. The couple helped the center move to its current location in 2005, and they both serve on the advisory team for the Center.

Art Gallery

ACU art expands to downtown gallery

 

Abilene Christian University's Department of Art and Design has expanded to include the brand new ACU-Cockerell Art Gallery. Located in downtown Abilene, the 2,600-square-foot space on North Second Street will be home to a wide variety of exhibits and events, including the performing arts.

Sikes Hall Renovations

 

Sikes Hall received a facelift, including a new brick exterior, new windows and shutters, expanded rooms, new community rooms, a new patio area, landscaping, exterior lighting, security cameras and new interior doors.

Powell Fitness Center

ACU fitness center adds new student-athlete weight room  

 

The renovation of Powell Fitness Center was completed, and now student-athletes enjoy their own weight and conditioning room. The facility increased its size from 5,600 to 9,000 square feet. 

Other athletics facility improvements included a 70-yard stretch of artificial turf on the football practice field north of Teague Special Events Center and new outdoor tennis courts and expanded viewing areas.
