Hubert Pickett overcame a childhood of poverty and prejudice to earn a degree from ACU in 1974 and become a middle school principal and member of the university's Board of Trustees.
A fullback on ACU's 1973 national championship football team, Pickett has become a community leader in Abilene and currently serves as the director of personnel for the Abilene Independent School District.
