Kari Leong ('84) intended to become a journalist but ended up an elementary school principal. "I really believe God puts people where they need to be," she says.
A native of Chicago, she was 16 when she graduated from high school. Kari attended Rochester (Mich.) College and transferred to ACU to pursue a double major of education and radio/TV.
She eventually focused on becoming a teacher. "According to the notes in my diary, it's something I always wanted to do," Kari laughs. "And my mom says I was always playing 'teacher' as a child, telling neighborhood kids what to do."
Kari values her ongoing relationships with former ACU faculty, all of whom she feels she can call any time for advice.
"I enjoy the chance to affect kids' and teachers' lives, to be a positive force and role model," she says. "I get the chance to set the foundation for the campus. I want it to be positive, outgoing. I like to set the tone and bring people aboard who will help do that."
