Quarterback Jim Lindsey registers Abilene Christian’s first 400-yard passing game in an epic 28-23 loss to top-ranked Arkansas State at Shotwell Stadium. Lindsey completes 33 of 63 passes for 414 yards and three scores for the nationally ranked Wildcats. The game attracts national attention including coverage in Sports Illustrated. Lindsey - who still ranks second in Southland Conference history in career passing yards (8521) and fourth in career total offense (8359) - is the Wildcats’ all-time leader in both categories. A, 1970 first team all-America and three-time all-SLC quarterback, he had 12 career 300-yard passing games and two career 400-yard passing games. He is still the ACU and Southland Conference all-time leader in career completions (642) and attempts (1237) even though ACC dropped out of the SLC after the, 1972-73 athletic year.
