Late run by St. Edward's KOs ACU

Wildcats give up 26-2 run in final minutes of 66-54 loss

AUSTIN -- St. Edward's outscored the ACU Wildcats 26-2 in the game's final 6:53 of the contest Saturday night to turn a 12-point deficit into a 12-point victory as the Lady Hilltoppers rallied for a 66-54 win over ACU in a non-conference women's college basketball game.

ACU (1-1) led throughout the contest, and appeared to be on cruise control as it turned a two-point halftime lead into a 12-point lead with 7:14 to play on a pair of free throws by Alex Guiton.  But ACU would score just two more points the rest of the way as St. Edward's rallied from double-digit deficit to take the win.

Leah Foster keyed the 26-2 run early with eight points, and Jennifer Knight was the spark late with nine more points, including a 3-pointer with 55 seconds to play that gave St. Edward's a 62-54 lead.  She hit a pair of free throws with 25 seconds left to give her team a 64-54 victory.

Guiton led the Wildcats with 15 points, while Ashley King had 11 points (3 of 3 from 3-point range).  ACU made just 17 field goals in the game and shot just 36.2 percent (17 of 47) from the field in the game.

Knight led the Lady Hilltoppers (2-1) with 19 points, while Sara Baca had 13 and Foster 12 off the bench.

The Wildcats will return to action Tuesday when they host Northwest Missouri State at 3 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.  That game will mark ACU's final game before the Thanksgiving break.
