ABILENE -- Abilene Christian head coach Shawna Lavender announced Monday that she has added a pair of transfer forwards to the 2005-06 roster, both of which have strong ties to the ACU athletics program.
Kristee Davidson -- daughter of former ACU all-America football player Kenny Davidson -- is transferring to ACU from Cal-Irvine, and Lacey Blau -- the younger sister of former Wildcat Lynsie Blau -- is transferring to ACU from Texas-San Antonio. They join Abilene High signee Audrey Maxwell as the three newest Wildcats for next year's squad, which will return three starters and eight letterwinners from a team that finished 20-10 in 2004-05 and reached the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament for the first time since 1998-99.
Davidson was a medical redshirt at NCAA Division I UC-Irvine in 2004-05, which will give her four years of eligibility at ACU. Davidson was a teammate of starting ACU point guard Alex Guiton at Fort Worth Christian High School, and she led the Lady Cardinals to a 136-22 record in four seasons.
She led FWCHS to a pair of Class 4A Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state titles, and was the TAPPS Athlete of the Year as a senior. She averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game as a senior, and she was named TAPPS District 1-4A MVP and first team all-district. She was also a first team all-state selection, and a Fort Worth Star-Telegram all-area selection.
Davidson also excelled in track and field where she was a four-time state champion in the 800 meters and a two-time state champion in the 400 meters. She was also a four-time first team all-district selection in volleyball. Her twin sister, Kalee Davidson, is still on the roster at UC-Irvine.
Lacey Blau will be a junior in 2005-06 with two years of eligibility remaining for the Wildcats. She played in 14 games for the Lady Roadrunners in 2004-05, averaging 1.0 points and 0.0 rebounds per game as UTSA finished 16-12 overall.
She played at Midland College in 2003-04, averaging 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 21 minutes per game. She helped the Lady Chaparrals to a 20-10 record in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
She was a four-year letterwinner at Menard High School where she led the Lady Yellowjackets to the state semifinals as a freshman. She averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.2 blocks per game as a senior. She was a two-time district Most Valuable Player, and a four-timeall-region and all-state selection.
She contributed to a 76-game district winning streak, and as a senior led her team to the regional semifinals. She also lettered in track and field and was a four-time regional qualifier in the high jump.
