ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats will begin defense of their Lone Star Conference championship Friday night when they play in the semifinals of the LSC Post-Season Tournament at Moody Coliseum. The tournament -- being played at Moody Coliseum for the first time ever -- begins Thursday with a pair of quarterfinal matches starting at 5 p.m. ACU and Central Oklahoma -- the winners of the LSC South and North division titles, respectively, each receive first-round byes in the six-team tournament and won't play until Friday night. The Wildcats will play at 6 p.m. against the winner of the match between Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas Woman's, while Central Oklahoma will play at 8:30 p.m. against the winner of the match between West Texas A&M and Midwestern State. The semifinal winners will meet Saturday at 7 p.m. in the championship match. The Wildcats are ranked No. 11 in the nation and No. 3 in the NCAA Division II Southwest Region, and will be putting a pair of lengthy streaks on the line this weekend. After starting the season 0-3 ACU has reeled off a school-record 27 straight wins, the 19th-longest such streak in NCAA Division II volleyball history. The Wildcats have also won 32 straight matches at Moody Coliseum, tied for the 12th-longest such streak in NCAA Division II volleyball history.
