SAN ANTONIO -- The nationally ranked ACU Wildcats wasted little time Saturday afternoon in rolling to their 25th straight victory of the season, taking just 85 minutes to dismantle St. Mary's, 3-0, in a non-conference match at the Bill Greehey Arena.
ACU -- ranked No. 13 in the nation -- knocked off the Lady Rattlers, 30-18, 30-13, 30-25, to improve their school-record winning streak to 25 straight matches. ACU is now 25-3 overall with two huge matches to play to finish the regular season, including Thursday's match at West Texas A&M. ACU is 8-0 on the season and a win over the Lady Buffs would clinch the Lone Star Conference South Division title for ACU and the right to host the LSC Post-Season Tournament at Moody Coliseum.
ACU senior Michelle Bernhardt -- who on Friday became only the fourth player in LSC history and the 26th player in NCAA Division II history to record 2,000 career kills -- led the Wildcats with 18 kills, while senior middle blocker Amanda Slate had 16. The Wildcats hit .351 in the match, led by Slates .560 hitting percerntage. The Wildcats hit .333 in the first game and followed that with a .567 hitting percentage in the second game.
