Wildcats wrap up undefeated home season

ACU runs record to 26-7; looks forward to LSC tournament

ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats finished their regular season Saturday with a 3-0 win over St. Mary's, capping a 15-0 home season and running their record to 26-7 before the start of next weekend's Lone Star Conference Post-Season Tournament.

The Wildcat beat Incarnate Word 3-1 Friday night at Moody Coliseum in the first game of a pair of weekend home matches.

ACU is the No. 1 seed from the LSC South Division for next weekend's tournament, which will be played in Lawton, Okla., on the campus of Cameron University, the LSC North Division champion.  ACU will receive a first-round bye, and won't play until Friday night's semifinals when it will take on the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal match between Eastern New Mexico and Central Oklahoma.

In Friday's match against Incarnate Word, ACU was pushed to four games before winning 30-10, 30-16, 24-30, 30-25.  Junior outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt led all players with 20 kills to go along with 13 digs, while Ashlee Motola had 14 kills and Sophia Kindred 10 kills.  Kellen Morrow had 26 of ACU's 103 digs, and Lindsey Martin dished out 58 assists.

ACU hit .368 in the first game to take the early lead, and hit .254 in the match.

In Saturday's match against St. Mary's, Bernhardt had 16 kills and Amanda Slate 11 to lead the Wildcats to a 30-27, 31-29, 30-19 victory.  Morrow had 15 digs and Martin 45 assists as the Wildcats wrapped up the regular season with their 19th 3-0 victory of the year.
