Horn inks pair of prep standouts

Abilene High's Brown, Flower Mound's Lowry ink with ACU

ABILENE -- ACU head coach Brek Horn announced on Friday that she has signed Abilene High standout Terah Brown and Flower Mound star Abbie Lowry to binding letters of national intent.

The Wildcats just completed a 25-11 campaign in 2003 that saw them finish the season ranked seventh in the season, just one spot out of the NCAA Division II Southwest Region tournament.  ACU will return five of six starters next season and should be one of the favorites to win the Lone Star Conference championship.

Brown helped lead the Lady Eagles of Abilene High to a combined record of 49-15 over the last two seasons as they reached the playoffs in each of those seasons.  She was first team all-District 3-5A and the district's Defensive MVP in each of her last two seasons.

Last season she had 99 kills, a .318 hitting percentage and 50 blocks in District 3-5A matches.  Both of her parents, Terry and Gail Brown, attended ACU.

Lowry has been one of the top players in the northern Metroplex for each of the last two seasons.  Last season she led Flower Mound High School to a 22-11 record and was named first team all-District 7-5A for the second straight season.  As a sophomore in 2001, she was the District 6-5A Newcomer of the Year.

Last season she had 377 kills, 322 digs, 38 blocks and 11 service aces from the outside hitter / middle blocker positions.  For her career she had 631 kills, 423 digs, 398 blocks and 16 service aces.  As a sophomore she had 202 blocks and followed that with 158 as a junior.
