Wildcats set to host Lady Chaps

ACU, LCU meet in Wildcats' final tune-up before crossover

ABILENE -- Fresh off a successful weekend at the Texas A&M-Commerce Invitational, ACU will return home Tuesday night to face Lubbock Christian in the team's final tune-up before this week's Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament.

The Wildcats and Lady Chaparrals are set to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Moody Coliseum.

ACU finished 3-1 last weekend at the A&M-Commerce Invitational, losing its first match to Harding in five games before reeling off three straight victories over Gulf South Conference opponents Southern Arkansas, Hendersno State (Ark.) and Central Arkansas. ACU carried a five-match winning streak into the match, and has now won eight of last nine matches to improve to 10-5 on the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt continued her strong play in Commerce as she finished with 59 kills and a .262 hitting percentage. She had 29 kills and 26 digs in ACU's loss to Harding, the second time this season she's had at least 29 kills in a match (31 vs. Colorado State-Pueblo on Sept. 6). She is far-and-away the leader on the club in kills with 243, which puts her on pace to rack up more than 500 kills this season.

Setter Lindsey Martin had 146 assists in the four matches over the weekend to give her 624 on the season, putting her on pace for more than 1,400 assists this season.

After Tuesday night's match, ACU will head to Wichita Falls for this weekend's LSC Crossover Tournament on the campus of Midwestern State University. ACU will play Texas Woman's and Midwestern State on Friday before finishing off tournament play Saturday afternoon against Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Wildcats are 14-3 all-time in four LSC Crossover Tournaments (3-1 in 1999, 6-0 in 2000, 3-0 in 2001 and 2-2 in 2002).
