ACU knocks off Texas Woman's, St. Edward's at home

ABILENE -- The ACU volleyball team ran its winning streak to four matches over the weekend by knocking off both Texas Woman's and St. Edward's in non-conference matches at Moody Coliseum.

The Wildcats are now 7-4 on the season and will return to action this weekend with four matches at the Texas A&M-Commerce Tournament.  Winners of four straight, the Wildcats have won six of their last seven matches.

ACU began the weekend with an easy 30-22, 30-21, 30-18 win over Texas Woman's, which fell to 1-8 with the loss.  The Wildcats then outlasted a feisty St. Edward's squad on Saturday, winning in five games, 24-30, 30-24, 30-24, 24-30, 15-11.

Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt had 24 kills, while senior outside hitter Haylee Hartline had 19 kills in the win over St. Edward's.  Sophomore middle blocker Amanda Slate had 11 kills, while junior Sophia Kindred added 10.  Sophomore setter Lindsey Martin had 59 assists and 13 digs to lead ACU to the victory.  ACU hit .239 in the match to just .185 for St. Edward's.  The Wildcats hit .400 (nine kills and just one error on 20 attacks) in the decisive fifth game.

The Wildcats had little trouble disposing of the Pioneers on Friday.
