ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats clinched second place in the Lone Star Conference South Division over the weekend, sweeping both Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville at Moody Coliseum.
The Wildcats hammered Tarleton State, 30-19, 30-21, 30-16, on Friday, and then came back Saturday and whipped Texas A&M-Kingsville, 30-19, 30-26, 30-25. ACU finishes the regular season at 25-10 overall and 7-3 in the LSC South Division. ACU and Eastern New Mexico both finished 7-3 in the LSC South Division, but because of tiebreaker rules in the conference, ACU goes into the LSC Post-Season Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed from the LSC South, while the Zias go into the tournament as the No. 3 seed.
West Texas A&M, which won the LSC South Division, won the LSC South Division and will be the No. 1 seed and host for the tournament, which will get started Thursday night and conclude Saturday at 7 p.m. with the championship game. ACU will play the No. 3 seed from the LSC North in Thursday night's quarterfinal match.
