PUEBLO, Colo. -- ACU will try to snap a three-match losing streak this weekend when it plays in the eight-team Quality Inn / Thunderwolf Invitational beginning Friday at Colorado State-Pueblo.
The Wildcats -- who lost their last three matches last weekend at the Rockhurst Classic in Kansas City, Mo. -- are 1-3 on the season heading into the tournament. ACU will take on four teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference that are a combined 3-13 going into the invitational tournament.
Both of ACU's first-day opponents -- Western State College and Colorado-Colorado Springs -- are 0-4 going into Friday's play. ACU will close out play Saturday by taking on Colorado School of Mines and the host from Colorado State-Pueblo.
The Wildcats are led by senior outside hitter Haylee Hartline, sophomore outside hitter Michelle Bernhardt and sophomore middle blocker Amanda Slate, who was named to the all-tournament team last weekend in Kansas City.
After the invitational, ACU will play its first home match of the season at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 when it takes on Midwestern State at Moody Coliseum.
