Jason "JD" Dunavant is in his fifth year on the ACU athletic training staff, and his first in the newly created director of athletic training position after former head athletic trainer, Rick Fox, left to become the head athletic trainer at Burnet High School. As the Director of AthleticTraining, Dunavant's responsibilities will include the care and prevention of athletic injuries for all ACU sports, supervision of staff athletic trainers, budget and insurance, drug testing program, and education of student athletic trainers. Before joining ACU, Dunavant was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Arkansas where he served on the staff as the Razorbacks' legendary track and field program. While there, he was a member of many NCAA Division-I track and field championship teams as well as a member of Arkansas' football team that beat Texas in the 2000 Cotton Bowl . Dunavant graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisiana - Monroe with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 1998, and then received his Masters of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas in 2000. Dunavant is a member of the National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA), Southwest Athletic Trainers Association (SWATA), Louisiana Athletic Trainer Association (LATA), and the Texas Society of Sports Medicine. He spent the summer of 2004 working as an athletic trainer at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. |
