ACU runs to third-place finish in 4x400 relay

ACU finishes behind LSU, TCU in nationally televised race

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The ACU men's track and field team ran to a second-place in the 4x200 relay and a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay Saturday at the Penn Relays, capping a successful weekend for the Wildcats at historic Franklin Field.

The Wildcats' 4x400 relay team ran a 3:06.11 -- the second-best time of the season -- to finish third in the race, which was broadcast on national television by NBC.  LSU won the College Men 4x400 Championship of America with a time of 3:02.21, followed by TCU at 3:05.45.  ACU was third, just ahead of NCAA Division II rival St. Augustine's, which was fourth at 3:06.81.

In the College Men 4x200 Championship of America, the Wildcats were second to LSU as the Tigers ran a 1:21.31, while the Wildcats turned in a time of 1:23.16.  Middle Tennessee State was a close third at 1:23.72, just behind the ACU quartet of Delt Cockrell, Marvin Bien-Aime, Brant Gilbert and Jordan Johnson.

On the women's side, ACU was third in the 4x400 relay final, finishing in 3:40.19, just behind St. Augustine's (3:37.35) and North Carolina A&T (3:39.92).
