Wildcats to host East Central

ACU teams begin stretch drive toward conference tournament

ABILENE -- The ACU men's and women's tennis teams will return to action Saturday morning when they host Lone Star Conference foe East Central at the Eager Tennis Center.

The two matches will begin at 9 a.m.  The ACU women are 20-5 and ranked No. 14 in the nation, while the ACU men are also 20-5 and ranked 24th in the nation.

The ACU women have won 11 of their last 13 matches with the only two losses coming to NCAA Division I foes in North Texas (March 24) and Southern Methodist (March 29).  The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Central Region, and will have just two matches left in the regular season (April 13 at Texas State and April 17 vs. St. Mary's) before the LSC Tournament, which will be played April 22-23 in Oklahoma City.

The ACU men, meanwhile, have won six straight matches and 10 of their last 11 to improve to 20-5 on the season with the only loss coming against Texas A&M (March 13).  The Wildcats are ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division II Central Region, and will have three matches remaining in the regular season after Saturday's match before the conference tournament begins April 22.
