ABILENE -- Both the ACU men's and women's tennis teams and 12 members of those teams have been honored for their academic work by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The ACU men's team was one of only 16 NCAA Division II programs in the nation to be honored as an ITA All-Academic team, while the ACU women's team was one of just 27 NCAA Division II programs to be honored as an ITA All-Academic team. To qualify for the team honors, each team had to have a combined grade point average of 3.20.
The men's team also had eight players named ITA Scholar-Athletes, led by No. 1 singles player Casper Steenkamp. Joining Steenkamp on the list are Kevin Beedy, Trent Broach, George Carstens, Cole Griffith, Clayton Morgan, Jason Purger and Jason Ray.
On the women's side, four Wildcats were named ITA Scholar-Athletes: Lauren Yarbrough, Ashley Hawk, Holly Lindloff and Alison Tetrick.
