ABILENE -- The ACU men's and women's tennis teams will open the 2003 fall season this weekend by hosting six other teams in the ACU Wal-Mart Open, which will be played at the ACU, Hardin-Simmons and Rose Park tennis courts.
ACU will host Hardin-Simmons, McMurry, Oral Roberts, Midwestern State, Howard Payne and Collin County Community College in the tournament.
The tournament is set to start at 10 a.m. Friday with final first-day matches scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday's singles semifinals will get started at 8 a.m. on all three courts with championship matches set to start at 11 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the various courts.
All men's Flight 1 singles matches and women's Flight 1 and Flight 2 singles matches will be played at ACU, and all men's and women's doubles action will be played at ACU's Eager Pavilion. Men's Flight 2 and Flight 3 singles matches will be played at Rose Park, while men's Flight 4 singles matches will be played at HSU, as will women's Flight 3 singles matches.
ACU has four players in the Flight 1 women's singles field in Colleen Reynolds, Summer Beesley, Ashley Hawk and Rachel Taylor. The teams of Reynolds and Taylor and Yarbrough and Beesley will play in the Flight 1 women's doubles field.
Jason Ray and Trent Broach are the men's Flight 1 singles field, while Trent Broach and Even Puglia will team up to play as a team in the men's Flight 1 doubles field.
