ABILENE -- The ACU men's and women's tennis teams hit the home stretch of the regular season Saturday when they host St. Mary's in a dual match at the Eager Tennis Center.
Both the men's and women's matches will begin at 9 a.m. The men were originally scheduled to have played New Mexico Military Institute, but that match was cancelled.
The men are 21-5 on the season and ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division II Central Region, behind only Drury (Mo.) University. The women are 21-5 overall and ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Central Region.
After playing Saturday, the men and women will host Tyler Junior College on Tuesday before leaving Wednesday for Oklahoma City, which is where the Lone Star Conference championship tournament will be played. The ACU men are the defending conference champions, while the women were upset by Northeastern State in last year's championship match.
Both ACU teams have the inside track on hosting regional tournaments the weekend of May 6-7. If both teams finish ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the region they will host regional tournaments.
