RICHARDSON, TX -- Six ACU men's and women's tennis players were named to the Lone Star Conference first team all-conference team as announced by the league office.
On the women's side, seniors Lacy Johnson and Sarah Taweel were each named first team all-conference in singles, while Johnson and her doubles partner, Kristin Chumley, and Taweel and her doubles partner, freshman Colleen Reynolds, were each named first team all-conference in doubles.
Johnson, Taweel and Chumley have each been named first team all-America during their stellar careers. Those four players have led ACU to a 25-5 overall record this season and a No. 8 nation ranking. ACU, which finished runner-up to Northeastern State last week at the LSC Tournament, will play in the NCAA Division II Central Region tournament this weekend in Abilene.
Northeastern State's Zorana Stefanovic, who led the Lady Reds to the LSC crown, was named the LSC Women's Player of the Year. She and her doubles partner, Neus Barbera, were named first team in both singles and doubles.
On the men's side, ACU senior Julien Curatella and junior Trent Broach were each named first team all-conference.
Curatella and Broach led the Wildcats to the LSC championship last week in Wichita Falls. The Wildcats, 15-13 on the season, will also play in the NCAA Division II Central Region tournament this weekend in Abilene.
Central Oklahoma senior Henry So of Sydney, Australia, was named the LSC Men's Tennis Player of the Year.
