ABILENE, Texas -- Incarnate Word jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings Saturday afternoon on its way to an 11-5 win over West Alabama in an elimination game of the NCAA Division II South Central Region tournament at Crutcher Scott Field on the Abilene Christian University campus. The Cardinals (38-20) will play Sunday in the championship round, starting at 2 p.m. Incarnate Word, bidding for its first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II College World Series, will either play at 2 p.m. to get to a 6 p.m. game against Southern Arkansas, or it will have to beat Montevallo twice to win the title. West Alabam's season ends at 42-22. Incarnate Word led 2-0 after the first inning before basically putting the game away with a five-run second inning. The outburst was keyed by a two-run single by Blake Weston, who finished the game at 2 for 3 with three RBI. Matt Seale had an RBI fielder's choice in the inning and Chris Pacheco had an RBI single. The Cardinals added three more in the seventh on a two-run triple to right-centerfield by Jason Miori, who later scored from third on a passed ball. The Tigers put up three cosmetic runs in the top of the ninth to make the final 11-5.
