Incarnate Word stays alive with 4-2

LSC champion Bronchos sent home after loss to Cardinals

ABILENE, Texas -- Incarnate Word pitcher Blake Weston was the star of the show Friday afternoon as he pitched a complete game on the mound and drove in two runs with his bat to lead the Cardinals to a 4-2 elimination-game win over Central Oklahoma in the NCAA Division II South Central Region baseball tournament at Crutcher Scott Field.

Weston scattered nine hits and five walks over nine innings as he improved to 12-2 on the season, helping push the Cardinals to 37-20 on the year.  Central Oklahoma, meanwhile, finishes its season at 40-20 overall after losing each of its first two games in the tournament.

Weston hit for himself and help break a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning with a two-out RBI single to left-centerfield that drove in Chris Solis with the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run.  In the sixth, Weston drove in Solis again with another two-out single that pushed the lead to 4-2.

Weston -- who set the school single-season record for wins with the victory over the Bronchos -- got out of a ninth-inning jam when he retired the final two batters of the game on a pair of flyouts with the game-tying runs on base.
