Allen Wilson

Allen Wilson was a defensive back on Abilene Christian's 1973 football team which won the NAIA Division I national championship and Lone Star Conference title. The Midland Lee High School graduate later coached two high school teams to Texas state championships and received Coach of the Year honors from the Texas Sports Writers Association and the ACU Lettermen's Association.

Wilson competed in football, track and field, and basketball for Midland Lee before graduating in 1970.

At ACU, he earned three varsity letters in football, intercepted five passes in his career and led the Wildcats in punt returns. He was captain of the 1973 team as a senior and served as graduate assistant coach in 1974 before his graduation in 1975.

In 1988, his high school team at Paris lost its first three games of the season, then won 12 straight games to capture the Class 4A state championship. Paris upset the two-time defending champion in the final game. Wilson won his second state title in 1994 when John Tyler High School in Tyler took the Class 5A trophy after its exciting 48-44 triumph over Plano East in a classic state quarterfinal match in Texas Stadium.
