Mr. and Mrs. Crutcher Scott

The late Crutcher Scott and his wife, Victoria, are the first husband and wife to be added to the ACU Sports Hall of Fame, and they are the first to be honored with the university's Lifetime Achievement Award since 1990.

Scott was a member of the Abilene City Council from 1953 to 1957 and served on the ACU Board of Trustees from 1937 to 1975 before his appointment to the university's Senior Board. He was a 1920 graduate of Abilene Christian High School and played football for the Wildcats while enrolled at ACU in the 1920s.

The ACU baseball field, which opened in 1990, is named in his memory. His wife, Victoria, along with his son, Al (1961 graduate of ACU), and his daughter-in-law, Dottie, also Abilene residents, have continued his interest in and support of ACU athletics since his death in 1979.

A native of Sweetwater, Scott was an oilman, former president of the Rotan Chamber of Commerce, director of the West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association, longtime member of the Rotary Club, and deacon at University Church of Christ. He also served on the ACU National Development Council from 1956 to 1971 during a period of university expansion.
