Charles A. (Lefty) ReynoldsCharles A. (Lefty) Reynolds retired in 1974 after serving 23 years as superintendent of schools in Brady. He also was principal, teacher and coach in Bowie and principal and superintendent in Eldorado. Reynolds is a former district president of the Texas State Teachers Association, vice president of the Brady Chamber of Commerce, elder for the Brady Church of Christ and chairman of the Brady United Way. He attended Weatherford High School and graduated from ACU in 1933. Reynolds was a freshman basketball and tennis player at Abilene Christian in 1929-30 at the age of 16 and was probably the Wildcats' youngest two-sport letterman. He was the conference scoring leader in basketball in the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 1931-32 as a junior and the Texas Conference in 1932-33 as a senior. He was all-conference in basketball, Texas Conference champion in tennis in singles and doubles, and national collegiate qualifier in doubles in 1933. He earned three varsity letters each in basketball and tennis and completed his eligibility at the age of 19. His son, Charles, was a quarterback at ACU in the mid-1960s. |
