Jerry Mullins

Jerry Mullins was a highly-recruited runningback on ACU's only undefeated, untied football team (11-0 in 1950), and he also later served as assistant coach. He retired in 1991 after serving 35 years on the university staff, including a role as director of financial aid. He was also ACU's institutional representative to the Southland Conference, Lone Star Conference and NCAA and assistant athletic director for each of the first four directors of athletics in ACU history.

A four-sport letterman at Valley Mills High School, Mullins served as team captain in 1951 as a junior and earned all-conference and honorable mention all-America as a senior in 1952 for the Wildcats. He graduated from ACU in 1953 and received a M.Ed. degree in 1957. Mullins also served on the executive committee of the Texas Association of Financial Aid Officers and as vice president of the Southland Conference.

Mullins coached at Robstown in 1953-56 before joining the Wildcat staff. While at ACU, he also started Camp Wildcat in 1971, an annual event which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary of providing a summer sports camp for boys and girls in a Christian environment. Mullins has also served as an elder for University Church of Christ, and each of his four children is an ACU graduate.
