Tommy Morris

Tommy Morris competed in football, track and field, and basketball for the Wildcats before his graduation from the university in 1955 with a B.S. degree. He was a four-sport letterman at Abilene High School and Abilene Christian High School. A former high school coach, he is now an Abilene businessman. Morris is a member of the ACU Board of Trustees, former president of the ACU Alumni Association and former member of the Abilene City Council.

He was all-conference, captain and one of the Wildcats' leading scorers in basketball; national runner-up in the NAIA javelin; and four-year letterman in football, with seven touchdowns on Wildcat teams with a combined record of 25-13-2. While Morris competed for Abilene Christian, the Wildcats won one Texas Conference title in basketball, two in football and three in track and field, in addition to two NAIA national championships in track and field.

Morris also ran the Boston and New York marathons.

His father, Don H. Morris, was president and later chancellor of Abilene Christian, and his son, Don, was a golf letterman at the university.
